We currently have two cows. We inherited them with the farm.

Harvested 32 pounds of carrots today. Not nearly as much as last year. interstingly, the batch on the right was planted July 27 and wieghed 14.5 lbs. The batch on the left was planted early June and weighed 17.5 pounds. The earlier planted ones tended to be significantly smaller but I’m pretty sure that’s b/c I didn’t adequately thin them.
These are our compost bins. We use them to compost all the animal manure, food scraps and waste vegetation we generate here on the farm. We generally fill up one bin and let it sit for a while. When its good and composted we move it into the other bin and start filling up the first bin again. This two bin system helps insure the compost is well mixed and composted before we use it.
The problem is it keeps falling apart.
There was an invasion yesterday on the Long Winter Farm. The house was swarmed by lady bugs.
I tried to take a couple of pictures but they don’t do the invasion justice.
We got some hay today.
The picture above is our tractor with 2 bale spears attached. The one in the rear is a 3 point hitch spear lent to us by a friend. The one in the front is our very own brand new skid steer attachment bale spear.
